Will LEAP system requirement changes impact your firm?

Post-Image

LEAP recently updated their system requirements for LEAP Office integration to exclude any edition of Microsoft Office that is not a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription version of the application.

But what does this mean for you and your firm?

To see if the changes will impact your firm, the first thing you will need to check is the version of the Office applications you have installed on your computer.

You can do this by opening Microsoft Office Application such as Word, Excel or Outlook, select File from the top left corner, and then click either Account, Office Account or Help on the left nav bar.

If you can’t see either Help, Account or Office Account under the File menu, you are using an older version of Office which is no longer supported. Please continue reading this article to find out how you can resolve the issue.

Once you select either Help, Account or Office Account in the File menu you’ll see your Office version and information under Product information, on the right side of the window.

If under Product Information you can see that your product is a Subscription Product, then congratulations, you already have LEAP supported version of Microsoft Office on your PC.

If you don’t see subscription product under product information, then you do not have a supported version of Microsoft Office for LEAP integrations.

So what do you need to do about it?

You will need to upgrade your Office software to a LEAP supported version, being a Microsoft 365 subscription version of the applications.

LEAP have advised they will continue to support existing installations of LEAP and Office, but all new installations of LEAP (Including the LEAP client being installed or re-installed on to a computer) will not be supported.

This places your firm at risk of not receiving the required updates and support from LEAP for the Office Integration tools, potentially breaking business processes and efficiencies that the LEAP software provides.

What version of Microsoft 365 is right for my firm?

The answer is, it depends. At ServiceScaler, we believe the the right version of Microsoft 365 will include (At a minimum), the Microsoft 365 Apps - Which is Office ProPlus Edition for you desktop computer or laptop - Exchange Online to host your emails, Teams for internal and external collaboration, and SharePoint for non-matter related documents and file storage in the cloud.

These are included in the Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Microsoft 365 Business Premium subscriptions, which can be purchased through us at ServiceScaler.

If your firm is not ready to make the leap to the broader offering from Microsoft 365 and just require the Office Apps for your computer, then you can simply procure Microsoft 365 Apps for Business which is purely a Microsoft Office Desktop Application subscription.
