Don't Forget Your Backups

With everyone working from home, who has taken responsibility for your backups?

Most organisations still have some form of onsite backup, and without taking those backups offsite you are potentially leaving yourself exposed.

Another thing to consider is whether you are backing up your Office 365 data. By default, Office 365 does not come with a proper backup and disaster recovery solution by which you can restore deleted or damaged files.

ServiceScaler offers solutions for both backup replication to the cloud (Removing the requirement to switch your backup drives every day), and Office 365 backup.

TRANSCRIPT

Hi guys, Rob here from ServiceScaler In today’s video, I want to quickly touch on the importance of backups and what everybody’s doing about their backups, with everybody working from home. Now, most businesses are used to doing the old plug the drive-in, do the backup, take it home at night and do that on rotation But with everybody working outside of the office now, there may not be the opportunity to do that. Probably something to consider. There are options available around doing cloud backups, and synchronisation through to cloud services. It is something that we offer here at ServiceScaler So reach out to me if you need some more information on that. The second thing to consider is there are a lot of businesses that are quickly moving or migrating to Office 365. Something to keep in the back of your mind is that by default Office 365 does not have a proper backup policy. So what it has in place is a data replication set, and it will replicate it to other servers. But if you delete a file from Office 365 It doesn’t keep a copy of that file after you’ve deleted it. It’ll just replicate that it’s been deleted across to the other servers. Something to think about. There are a couple of options available a few pieces of software to do cloud backups and snapshots of your Office 365 environments. Again, something we do offer through ServiceScaler, if you do have any questions about it, or it is something that you need to consider, feel free to reach out to me, DM, contact info on my profile. Thanks guys.
