Now that you have created a precedent library in SharePoint, the next step is to start using it.
ServiceScaler Learning & Development Specialist Steven Neuner completes a walk through of how to use SharePoint metadata fields to filter and search for precedents within the library.
TRANSCRIPT
Hey guys Steve here from Servicescaler and today I’m going to show you how to use the preset library we built in SharePoint to filter and find a precedent that you’re looking for. So first thing you need to do open up SharePoint. To the precedent Library that we made last week. And we want to use focusing on the major area and minor area of practice and the filter function of those. So there are a few options that we have so you can group by major area of practice which will update it so that. it pretty much just puts all of them with that same major area practice together. Which would be fine if you want to go through and have a look. I think I’ve got. 60 documents in this library though, so I want to filter and filter them out so that I’m only looking at specific ones related contract law, so I’m going to go through filter by then click the top of the column select filter by. And then select contract law and then apply. So what that will give me is just the three. Precedents that I have related to contract law and then I can also filter if I’ve got more than three I can filter by minor area of practice as well. So I say I want to only see the ones relating to corporate law. So you have a look. And then we have one precedent relating to contract law with the tag of corporate and in a minor area and that’s it. So you can go through and read the notes.. Make sure that it’s applicable for which you’re trying to use it for. And. That’s it, so tune in next week, do you figure out how you can better utilize SharePoint inside your practice.
