LEAP to end support for Microsoft Office versions
Is it time for your firm to migrate to Microsoft 365?
LEAP have recently announced changes to the versions of Microsoft Office they will be supporting for their LEAP Office Integrations.
Effective from the 24th November 2020, LEAP will no longer support perpetually licenced versions Microsoft Office.
Perpetually licenced versions of Microsoft Office are Office versions and editions that have either been purchased through a retail technology provider with a product key card (Licence), or come pre-installed on your computer upon purchase without a subscription.
Detailed below is the list of unsupported versions, or versions of Office not supported by LEAP:
- Microsoft Office 2013
- Microsoft Office 2016
- Microsoft Office 2019
- Microsoft Office Starter Edition
- Microsoft Office RT Edition
- Microsoft Office Home & Student Edition
- Microsoft Office Business Essentials Edition
- Microsoft Office Personal Edition
- Microsoft Office Enterprise E1 Edition
- Microsoft Office Home Edition
LEAP have consistently recommended and advised their users that LEAP and Microsoft 365 (Or LEAP and Office 365) is the best combination of software to run a small firm. This includes using Exchange Online and Microsoft Office 365 Apps.

LEAP have advised that they will continue to support current clients for an undetermined length of time to allow firms to transition to Microsoft 365. All new installations of LEAP must have Microsoft 365 Apps installed for their integrations to be supported. It has also been advised that they will not be providing any further software updates or bug fixes for locally installed Office versions, and they will be removing their the online help content for these systems in January 2020.
Based on this information, if you are purchasing, replacing or upgrading a computer, or simply installing LEAP on another computer in your law firm, then it must have Microsoft 365 Apps (Office 365) as the version of Office on the computer or it will be unsupported by LEAP.
