TRANSCRIPT

Guys Rob here from ServiceScaler. So in today’s video we’re going to be talking about some recent changes that have been announced by Leap. The changes come through to the right partner network, so the lypiatt partners, of which server scaler is included, being a leap it partner, those changes outlined the system requirements. Changes for leap, particularly related to Microsoft Office. So as of the start of December, the system requirements, and there’s a link down in the post below. I can take you through to their system requirements have now been updated to reflect that they will only be supporting. Microsoft 365 subscriptions for. Microsoft Office. In terms of ongoing support and their integrations and for new installations, or knew machines that you are going to be installing the LEAP Desktop application on. So what does this mean? If you relate user and you have Microsoft Office installed on your computer, what. I suggest that you do is go and have a look and check which version of Microsoft Office you are using. If you are using a version that is Microsoft 2013, 2016 or 2019, it means that you have what we call a perpetually licensed version of Microsoft. Office. As in you don’t have a subscription with Microsoft you have purchased that application and you own it outright moving forward. That’s not going to be supported by Leap anymore. Now they’ve also announced as part of these changes that they will continue to support existing installations of LEAP and the integration with. Microsoft Office for an undisclosed period of time. That might be a month that might be year that might be forever, although I do doubt that. So something that you will need to do is just check the version of Office that you have now in preparation for these changes being rolled out. More broadly, what should you and your firm be considering doing if you do have the perpetually licensed versions of office? Well, you’ll need to consider a Microsoft 365 subscription. There are two types of subscriptions which are going to be particularly important or particularly relevant to firms using Leap who have perpetually licensed Microsoft. Office the first one is Microsoft 365 business apps. Now the business apps are just the desktop applications only, so you can purchase a subscription for Microsoft 365 that includes just the license for the desktop applications which will replace these current perpetually licensed office you have on your computer and have a running subscription for Microsoft 365 that will allow you to have the office apps installed on your computer which will be supported by Leap. That’ll be $12.00 ex GST per month and their subscriptions for that can be purchased through us at service gala. Being in Microsoft Partner or you can go directly to Microsoft and by that online. The second pathway for you is to look at their business suite there. Microsoft 365 business subscriptions that include Microsoft Business Standard and business premium now within those couple of different subscription types you will get the desktop or the Office applications for your computer to install them locally, but you’ll also get a range of other things including exchange exchange online, so having your Mail hosted with Microsoft 365. Microsoft SharePoint, which is their online document management system amongst a range of other things, but they’re online document management system to store all of your files. You’ll get one drive and you’ll also get Microsoft Teams. Now Service Gallery in the lead up to the end of the year. And with these recent changes being announced have put together a package for users of Leap who are not in. Microsoft 365 that will allow you to transition from either on premise servers or on premise infrastructure that you might have. And you’re perpetually licensed desktop applications through to Microsoft 365 where we move all of your Mail your into exchange online. Your documents through into SharePoint and build out those libraries and structures that you need and also provide the training requirements around those applications and how to use them. If you’d like to find out some further information on that will put some links down in the post below, feel free to reach out to the team and night service scale up. We’d be more than happy to discuss it with you. Further and of course, guys if you have any questions, make sure you reach out to me on here. Cheers.
